2025 Graduation Portfolio
Master of Arts in Technical Communication
Hi! I’m Candice.
I am a graduate student at Texas State University pursuing a Master of Arts in Technical Communication. With a professional background in education and knowledge management, I focus on bridging the gap between complex technical information and the people who need to use it. My academic work centers on creating user-focused content that simplifies difficult concepts while remaining rhetorically grounded.
My journey into technical communication began at UT Austin, where I graduated with highest honors with a BA in English Literature. After several years as a high school English educator, I transitioned into full-time writing and editing, eventually leading me to graduate study. This academic portfolio represents my growth across 10 courses in the program, including Document Design, Technical Editing, Restoration and 18th Century Literature, Foundations of Technical Communication, International Communication, Usability Studies, Grant and Proposal Writing, History and Theory of Rhetoric, Coding for Technical Communicators, and Editing the Professional Publication.
As I prepare to graduate in May 2026, this website serves as a curated showcase of the artifacts and research I’ve produced during my time at Texas State. These works reflect my ability to ground practical design and documentation in the rigorous theoretical frameworks I’ve studied throughout the MATC program.
I could not have completed this program without the support of many people: the professors who shared their expertise and encouraged me along the way; my peers for their support and camaraderie (especially Maggie Likes and Kate Stallworth); Dr. Dayley for his guidance through the program; and, most importantly, my family, whose unwavering support got me through the hardest parts. Thank you all!
